Watercolor Portrait

20190501_101234.jpg
This is my watercolor portrait of Alessia Cara. I think I did a good job on the face, but I struggled to add TEXTURE to the hair. On the face I tried to have a good sense of FORM through the skin tones, especially on the neck. Also, I tried to have a range of VALUE in the background ranging from a light purple to a dark blue around her. Throught the dark outline around her I tried to EMPHASIZE focus on the portrait. Finally, I tried to use a sense of PATTERN in her flannel, which involved repeated criss-crossed lines.
