Rough Print

The process of the Monoprint was a lot easier compared to past projects. It was simply required that I use three or more colors and cutouts of shapes on a Jellypad. Once, we had a placed a paper on the Jellypad and ink I was finished.  The hard part though was choosing the right colors, placement, and cutouts.  For my rough print, I chose split complementary colors or orange, green and blue because I felt that these colors blended together well. Having two darks and one light seemed logical, and the cutouts I used were a combination of both organic and geometric shapes. I tried to space the shapes out but felt disappointed when all the imprints of the cutouts were covered by the next layer of ink. I wanted to try something that ensured I wouldn't cover my cutouts with ink from the next layer and drew a design that I could place certain parts of it in order to cover up the cutouts I had already placed. I chose the Analogous colors Bg, B, and BV with a hint of silver because I felt my cutout looked like rain, so the color blue would best match that feel. I only included geometrical cutouts because I noticed everyone was going for the "earth" style and I wanted to do something different. I included squares and a squiggly like top and bottom. All in all, I wish I had chosen more contrasting colors because then it's hard to notice the different imprints.
